Open positions on the Board of Directors with terms beginning on January 1, 2018.
Ideal candidates will be attorneys, judges or members of the public with a demonstrated interest in and commitment to building a better justice system for all Californians. Applicants must have previous board, public or community service experience, and be knowledgeable about and comfortable with charitable fundraising. We actively seek diverse candidates from across California.
California Bar Foundation is the only statewide funder investing exclusively in the California justice system. Our investments are focused on increasing the presence and viability of underrepresented communities in the California legal profession. We are working toward a future where empowered donors and community leaders are working together to build a better, more accessible justice system for all Californians.
California Bar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. More information is available on our website: www.calbarfoundation.org. The Board of Directors consists of up to 45 members and two ex officio members. Appointed members serve two-year terms and are expected to attend four board meetings per year while actively participating in at least two board committees. Board meetings alternate between San Francisco and Los Angeles, while most committee meetings are conducted by conference call.
Each board member is expected to make a personally significant gift based on their personal circumstances. Each board member is also expected to cultivate and solicit personal and professional contacts on behalf of California Bar Foundation. Board members who are law firm partners & associates, or similarly positioned in other organizations, are expected to secure significant gifts – scholarships, Scholarship & Award Ceremony or unrestricted giving – from their organizations. All board members are expected to support, participate in and provide feedback on California Bar Foundation fundraising activities.
