Judicial Intern Opportunity Program Supplemental Stipend

In 2008, the California Bar Foundation is providing a supplemental stipend of $1,000 to first- or second-year minority and/or financially disadvantaged law students who are placed as judicial interns in the summer of 2008 through the American Bar Association's Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP). JIOP is a full-time, six-week minimum, summer internship program that places minority and/or financially disadvantaged students for state or federal judges in participating cities.

The Foundation seeks to provide additional financial support to JIOP interns with financial need who are placed with California judges, with a preference given to interns currently attending California law schools and/or with California ties.

Criteria

  1. Candidate must be placed with a California Judge through the ABA's Judicial Intern Opportunity Program.

  2. Candidate must submit documentation of financial need.

  3. Priority will be given to Candidates attending a California law school and/or with ties to California.
Application Instructions

  1. All portions of the Application must be received by the Foundation by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 (the "Application Deadline").

  2. Applications may be submitted by mail, delivery service, or fax to:

  3. Applications postmarked by the Application Deadline but not received in full by the Application Deadline will not be accepted.

  4. All documents submitted in association with Candidate's Application should include the name of Candidate on the upper right-hand corner of each page.
