Scholarships

To help high-achieving California law students committed to public service meet the financial burden of attending law school and preparing for a legal career serving the community, the Foundation offers three scholarship programs:

  • Public Interest Scholarships to assist current law students with their tuition and related expenses
  • Diversity Scholarships to support incoming law students from groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession in the critical first year of law school.
  • Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarships to assist recent and soon-to-be law school graduates with the fees and expenses related to taking the California Bar Exam

For the Public Interest and Rosenthal Bar Exam Scholarships, the Foundation works with California law schools, which nominate top students for the Foundation's financial awards. Diversity Scholarship applicants submit their applications directly to the Foundation.

In 2008, the Foundation is partnering with the American Bar Association to provide supplemental stipends to support law students interning with federal and state judges in California through the ABA's Judicial Intern Opportunity Program.

The funding for our programs, including all of our scholarship programs, comes from our corporate sponsors, the state's lawyers, and our other donors.
