Frequently Asked Questions about the Diversity Scholarship Application
Can I hand-deliver, mail or email you my application? No, all applications must be submitted online here.
Do I need to have outstanding educational debt in order to qualify for the scholarship? No, you are eligible for the scholarship if you have no outstanding educational debt.
What "underrepresented groups" is the Diversity Scholarship application referring to? The Diversity Scholarship is intended for students from racial or ethnic groups underrepresented in the State Bar membership.
What do I do if I have not yet received my financial aid information by the deadline? Include a note with the rest of your application indicating that you have not yet received your award letter. Send us your financial aid paperwork as soon as you receive it (preferably, email it as a PDF).
In order to have my recommendation letters in my PDF document with everything else, I would have to see them, is that okay? Yes, it is fine with us if you have seen your recommendation letter. Please do NOT have your recommender send his/her letter directly to the Foundation.
Can I submit more than two recommendation letters? Yes, but please no more than four.
I will be attending Law school outside of California but I’m a lifelong California resident, and will definitely come back to California to practice law after I graduate from law school, am I eligible to apply for the scholarship? No, the scholarship is open to students attending California law schools only.
When am I likely to hear the results of my application? All applicants will be notified no later than September 1, 2013, via the email address on your application – please be sure the email address you provide is one you check frequently and will have access to in September.
