Public Interest Scholarship Fund
Since 1992, the Foundation has supported more than 550 outstanding law students headed for public interest law careers with more than $2.3 million in scholarship funds. With the cost of a legal education spiraling upward and many law school graduates facing more than $80,000 in debt, the Public Interest Scholarship Program provides crucial financial assistance to students with a demonstrated commitment to public service, academic excellence, financial need, and plans to pursue public interest law positions. Donors to the Public Interest Scholarship Fund make three-year, $10,000 per year commitments. In recognition of its gift, each donor is able to "name" one of the Public Interest Scholarships each year for the duration of the pledge commitment and present the awards at the Foundation's annual Scholarship Reception, held each fall in conjunction with the State Bar Annual Meeting. Donors also receive enhanced recognition as a member of the Foundation's Leadership Circle. We sincerely thank the following 2011 donors for their generous support of the Public Interest Scholarship Program:
Latham & Watkins LLP In memory of the Foundation's founding executive director, the Foundation acknowledges one scholar who has demonstrated a deep commitment to children's issues. The Foundation is able to recognize the Jim Pfeiffer Scholar with the generosity of longtime Foundation supporters, who have each made three-year, $500 per year commitments. 2011 Jim Pfeiffer Scholar donors include:
Nanci Clinch
After his passing in 2010, Daniel S. Goodman's family and friends honored his commitment to the justice system and long tenure at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles by providing gifts to fund the Daniel S. Goodman Scholar. To be awarded for the first time in 2011, this scholarship will be given to the top Public Interest Scholarship winner planning to pursue a career in criminal prosecution. Donors to the Daniel S.
